Trauma-informed,
Eating Disorder Therapy
My goal during our work together is to help you notice when your nervous system becomes dysregulated and work mindfully with you in the moment. At times, we may use imagery, movement, role-playing, and mindfulness to direct attention toward your emotions rather than away from them.
With guidance and practice, curiosity will help you gain awareness of your patterns. I aim to help you create feelings of understanding from the inside-out, rather than jumping to an old, destructive narrative. As you learn how you’re able to self-regulate your nervous system, genuine compassion and self-care are possible.
I am experienced with:
Men
Transgender & gender non-conforming individuals
The LGBQ+ Community
Youth & Elderly
Victims of Trauma
Health Care Professionals
Bariatric Patients
As a therapist, I invite clients to join me in curiosity as we explore the nature and function of their symptoms. My approach for treating clients who struggle with eating disorders, symptoms of PTSD, and/or body dissatisfaction, is trauma-informed. I recognize the pervasive difficulty with attachment and reduced trust that are often embedded in an eating disorder and I aim to help you become increasingly curious in order to begin understanding behavioral and emotional patterns.
For 10 years, I have been working with adults and adolescents who struggle with eating disorders, body dissatisfaction, and often co-occurring challenges. I have experience with various levels of acuteness, working within inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings. Because I’m well versed in the process and challenges of higher levels of treatment and the difficulty of maintaining recovery, I’m a great candidate for supporting clients with care following treatment. I am happy to incorporate professional and family collaboration as needed.
If you or a loved one have not received treatment but are struggling with food, weight, & body dissatisfaction, I am equipped to do a professional, collaborative assessment and make a recommendation for care if more support is needed.
